Outer Space

Arizona is really pretty. The palm trees are so serene and calm, and there are lots of colorful flowers and green grass, and everything is bathed in warm sunlight. Everything seems to come out of a book!

When we were there, I liked to take a few minutes out of the day to just go outside alone and really think about nature. What might the trees be thinking? What might the birds be feeling? What might the flowers say if they could talk? In those minutes, I somehow felt attached to nature, as if I were a part of it.

I think that if people did that every day, just took a few minutes and thought, it would pretty much put an end to pollution, littering and you name it. And if this planet is completely ruined where will we live, hmm? Mars?

Click!

When we were driving to Arizona, it rained and the clouds were so low they nearly brushed the tops of our heads. Literally.

When we entered Arizona, we saw a lot of red clay and cacti. We also saw a rainbow! It was so perfect and delicate against the bright blue sky, with a few puffy white clouds surrounding it. I tried to take a mental picture of it. I know we were very lucky to see it.

Chocolate and Marble

Today we went on a field trip. The 5th grade went to the Capitol and Mrs. Cavanaugh's Chocolate Shop. The Capitol was amazing! There was a lot of velvet, gold, marble and paintings.

What really amazed me was the dome. Outside, it just looked like this big gold painted thingy, but inside, it was so beautiful it was heart stopping. On either side there were stone arches with carved flowers. Winding up the sides were pictures of people who made a difference in the world.

But my favorite was the very top of the dome. They had painted it with a picture of the sky and seagulls. The tour guide said the seagulls were 4-6 feet tall! Holding up the balcony were stone columns. I felt like hugging them. Everything was so polished and brightly colored!

After eating lunch, we hopped onto the bus. When we got to the chocolate factory, the delicious aroma of chocolate greeted us. We watched video clips about chocolate and watched workers. We got a sample! Some kids bought candy. This boy spit chewed up candy on me-- how mean is that?
